Blank pages, cover sheets, legal boilerplate, duplicate pages — PDFs often contain pages you don’t need. Here’s how to remove them cleanly without affecting the rest of the document.
How to Remove Pages
- Go to pdftoolshq.com/remove-pages
- Upload your PDF
- Enter the page numbers you want to remove — single pages, ranges, or a combination
- Download the cleaned PDF
The remaining pages stay in their original order. Only the pages you specified are removed.
Specifying Which Pages to Remove
You can enter pages in several formats:
- Single page:
3— removes page 3 - Range:
3-7— removes pages 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 - Multiple:
1, 3, 5— removes pages 1, 3, and 5 - Mixed:
1, 3-5, 8— removes pages 1, 3 through 5, and 8
Common Pages to Remove
Blank pages — scanned documents frequently produce blank pages between content pages. Remove them to reduce file size and make the document cleaner.
Cover pages — when sharing internal documents externally, you might want to strip a branded or confidential cover page first.
Legal notices and terms — downloaded documents from banks, utilities, and government services often include lengthy terms pages that aren’t relevant to the actual content you need.
Duplicate pages — merging documents can accidentally create duplicate pages at the join points.
Intentionally blank pages — printed documents designed for double-sided printing often include “this page intentionally left blank” pages that are useless in a digital PDF.
Remove Pages vs Extract Pages — Which to Use
These tools do opposite things:
- Remove Pages — you specify pages to delete. Everything else is kept.
- Extract Pages — you specify pages to keep. Everything else is discarded.
Use Remove Pages when you want to delete a small number of pages from a large document. Use Extract Pages when you want to keep only a small portion of a large document — it’s fewer pages to specify.
After Removing Pages
Removing pages changes the page count, so existing page numbers may now be wrong. If your document has printed page numbers as part of the content that’s fine — but if you added page numbers as a PDF layer, they’ll need updating. Run the document through the Add Page Numbers tool to re-number from page 1.
If you removed pages to reduce file size, combine with compression for maximum size reduction.
