Rotate PDF Pages to the Right Angle

Free & private · no signup · no watermarks · files deleted in 24 hours

PDFToolsHQ Rotate PDF turns pages 90, 180 or 270 degrees free and writes the orientation into the file, so the fix holds in every reader and at print time.

PDFToolsHQ Rotate PDF turns PDF pages 90, 180 or 270 degrees free and writes the orientation into the file permanently. It lets you correct page orientation in seconds. Choose to rotate all pages or specific pages by 90°, 180°, or 270° — clockwise or counter-clockwise. This is the quickest fix for scanned documents where the scanner fed pages sideways, landscape pages sitting awkwardly in a portrait document, or upside-down pages that need flipping.

The rotation is applied permanently to the selected pages and saved into the output PDF file, so the fix persists in any PDF reader — unlike viewer-side rotation that reverts when you reopen the file. All content, text, images, and formatting remain completely unchanged; only the page orientation is modified.

Key features: Rotate all pages or specific pages • 90°, 180°, or 270° rotation • Permanent fix saved into the PDF • All content preserved • Supports PDFs up to 100MB • No watermarks or registration

Yes — you can rotate individual pages. Specify which pages to rotate using page numbers or ranges (e.g. rotate only pages 2 and 5, or pages 3-8), and choose the rotation angle for each selection. The remaining pages stay at their original orientation. This is the correct fix for mixed-orientation documents — for example, a landscape-formatted chart page embedded in an otherwise portrait report.

This is the classic single-pass document feeder result: the operator turned a wide table sideways to fit it, and those pages now sit at 90 degrees while everything else is upright. Rather than rotating the whole file and breaking the pages that were already correct, enter only the offending page numbers — 4,11-13 — and give them a single rotation. Pages you do not list are not touched. Work from a page count taken in a reader rather than from memory, because a page missed here has to be corrected in a second pass.

Most readers offer a rotate button that only turns the page on your screen; it is a view setting, and unless you explicitly save the document afterwards it is discarded when you close the window. Worse, that view rotation is often ignored at print time, so a page that looks upright on screen still comes out of the printer sideways. Rotating here writes the orientation into the document itself, so every reader — and every printer — honours it without anyone needing to know it was corrected.

Only for the upside-down part. Rotation works in exact quarter turns, because that is the only thing the page orientation value can express — there is no five-degree nudge available here, and a page that came off the glass slightly crooked cannot be straightened by rotating it. If the problem is really that the scan sits badly on the page with uneven margins, Crop PDF is the tool that adjusts the visible area. If the file itself will not display properly, try Repair PDF first.

No, and it cannot. Rotation sets a single orientation value on each page you selected — a quarter, half or three-quarter turn — and the drawing instructions underneath are handed through completely untouched. No image is resampled, no text is redrawn, nothing is re-encoded. That is why a rotated file comes back at essentially the size it went in at, and why you can rotate a page and rotate it back with no cumulative damage at all, which is not true of most operations you can perform on a PDF.

Tips for Getting the Best Results from Rotate PDF

Practical things worth knowing before you process your file — the details that most often catch people out with this particular tool.

This is a permanent fix

Rotating in a PDF reader is only a viewing preference that resets. Rotation applied here is written into the file and travels with it.

Rotate selected pages only

Specify page numbers or ranges to fix a single sideways scan without disturbing correctly oriented pages.

180 degrees for upside-down scans

Pages fed the wrong way into a scanner need 180 degrees, not 90 — a common cause of a second corrective pass.
